I am a 30-something mom of 3 girls and a wife to an amazingly, wonderful husband. We live in Des Moines, Iowa, within 2 hours of all of our family. After finishing graduate school I found myself without a job.. in a bad economy. My previous work experiences left me with a sour corporate taste in my mouth. I didn't want to be another cog in the corporate wheel and although my education had prepped me for it, I didn't want to be an executive who worked 60+ hours a week, sacrificing precious family moments for a big paycheck.
While it has been an amazing blessing to be home full-time with the kids, I needed something more. . I needed my own, non-mom, non-wife, sense of accomplishment. I discovered the vast world of blogging by accident and came across some tremendously talented women. I was inspired by the interior design and the furniture 'rehab' projects that I saw. I decided that I would like to try some of the things I saw..namely giving old furniture a new life through a coat of paint. And so my new "hobby" began..... and the rest is history.
Ok, so it's a bit more complicated than that. What about the job search? Is furniture and blogging my future? How will that pay the bills? How will I convince the hubs? All good questions- and none of which I have an answer to yet, but it's all part of the journey I suppose. So hang on tight, I'd love to take you along for the ride.
